As you may have heard, the Board of Education of District 96 has launched a strategic planning process.
They are gathering community input about what the District priorities and goals should be over the next five years.
The first step in this process is to survey the community. An online survey is now available on the District website and hard copy surveys are also available from the District by request. We encourage as many community members to respond by September 15th as possible.
Also, after the survey data has been gathered, they will be looking for volunteers to participate in one of five focus groups. Using the survey data as input, each focus group will work to identify the top District priorities in the areas of Instruction, Climate and Culture, Finance, Facilities, and Human Relations. The focus groups will meet in two sessions of roughly four hours each on the evenings of October 15th and 16th.
If you are interested in serving on a focus group, please contact our interim Superintendents Mr. Patrick Patt (pattp@district96.org) and Dr. Griff Powell (powellg@district96.org).

Kids Yoga will be held this Thursday, September 17th from 3:00-3:45pm in the Blythe Park Gym. The class cost is $10.00. You may purchase a punch card to attend multiple classes. The first session will run until Thursday, December 17th (no class 11/19).
Please sign up by clicking on the Cheddar Up button below. Pay online or send cash/check to the school office with “Kids Yoga” on the envelope and child’s name. Please make checks payable to Blythe Park PTA.
It is important that you make a weekly class reservation by WEDNESDAY each week. It is harder to manage class set-up when reservations are not received and children just show up to attend the class. Thanks for your help!

This is the week to finish up that back to school cleaning!
The Blythe Park PTA garage sale is this Saturday, September 19th from 8:00am-1:00pm. We will be accepting donations of household items, games, toys, furniture, clothes, electronics on Friday, September 18th from 3:00pm-6:30pm. So, as you are cleaning save your items to donate to our annual Garage Sale!

Grab your family, friends and neighbors for an outdoor screening of the family friendly movie Home.
Bring a blanket or chairs, “gates” to the amphitheater open at 6:45pm. Screening starts just after sundown approximately 7:15pm.
Concessions including popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase. A suggested donation of $5 per family is appreciated.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!
On Friday, September 25th, Blythe Park PTA will be holding the first Hot Lunch Fundraiser for the year. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. To register your child(ren) click on the CheddarUp button below.
New this year, you will be able to pay for the Hot Lunch Fundraiser on-line. If you would not like to use the on-line payment option, please send cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) to the school office with your family name and “Hot Lunch” written on the envelope. Similar to last year, you will be able to pay for the entire year or single lunches.
Reservation deadline is Wednesday, September 23rd. This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.

The Direct Donation Campaign is designed to meet the majority of our fundraising goals for the year, with the potential, to reduce fundraisers throughout the school year.
