Blythe Park School will be celebrating Earth Week this week with a whole bunch of activities. Check it out!
WEAR A DIFFERENT COLOR T-SHIRT EVERYDAY
Please have your child wear the following color t-shirts to celebrate Earth Week.
Monday, April 18: Wear a BLUE shirt for WATER.
Tuesday, April 19: Wear a GREEN shirt for PLANTS.
Wednesday, April 20: Wear a BROWN OR BLACK shirt for SOIL .
Thursday, April 21: Wear a YELLOW or ORANGE shirt for SUN
Friday, April 22: Wear a WHITE shirt for the AIR
Classes with the highest participation will be getting popcorn!
RIDE OR WALK TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY
Make an effort to walk or ride your bike to school everyday during Earth Week. It is better for you and the environment! Each day during Earth Week we will be tracking all those children that walk or ride their bike to school and will be keeping track by class. The winning class will get a special sweet treat at ACES walk in April. So, walk or ride everyday!
LET’S CLEAN UP OUR ENVIRONMENT ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL
Each day during Earth Week, we encourage to collect trash on the way to school and help clean up our community. Located at each door will be two containers – one for trash and one for recyclable items. Put your items in the containers and at the end of the week we weigh how much trash Blythe Park collected.

Join us for Family Glow-in-the-dark yoga pajama party on Friday, April 22nd at 6:30pm.
Kids should wear white or light colored pj’s and join us with their family members or favorite adults for a night of fun yoga poses, group and partner poses, yoga games and age-appropriate relaxation techniques for kids and adults alike. Our fun-packed family yoga class will end with a yoga nap and sweet smelling foot rubs.
As we wind down for the evening, milk and cookies will be served and a glow-in the-dark dance party to get those final wiggles out then off to sweet slumbers at home
All ages welcome and all abilities and fitness levels welcome. No previous yoga experience necessary.
The cost per family is $15.00 and can be paid on-line by clicking on the CheddarUp button or by submitting check or cash to the school office.

The Fitness Field trip to the Bulls and Sox Academy will be this Friday for the 1st-5th graders! The mission of the Bulls and Sox Academy aligns perfectly with our Bulldog Challenge. The Blythe Park PTA has generously covered the entire cost of this field trip and we really hope everyone will have a great time. Students should wear comfortable clothing and must wear gym shoes. They should bring a lunch and a drink-all disposable items. Permission slips and waivers must be signed and turned in now! Plant Sale is in full swing! The order deadline is April 27th. Orders will be delivered on Wednesday, May 4th in time for Mother’s Day. New this year, if there is a ½ or full flat of something you’d like for your garden that’s not on the order form, let us know! The nursery probably has it available and we can call to check availability and pricing. Also, please note, the pick-up address will be @ 363 Downing Rd. this year. Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!
The April Hot Lunch is Friday, April 29th. Please note, date changed due to all school fitness field trip taking place this Friday, April 22nd. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. Please register your child(ren) by clicking on the Cheddar-Up button below:
You can pay for the Hot Lunch Fundraiser on-line. If you would not like to use the on-line payment option, please send cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) to the school office with your family name and “Hot Lunch” written on the envelope. You can pay for the remainder of the year or single lunches.
PLEASE NOTE – all children must be registered by clicking on the Cheddar Up button above no matter what your payment method is going to be (cash, check or credit). If you have paid for the entire year last month, no reservation is needed for the remainder of the year.
This month’s reservation deadline is Wednesday, April 27th. This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.
So, sign-up and pay for the Hot Lunch fundraiser now!

Bring out the scientist in your child and be a part of the Blythe Park’s Science Fair to be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 28th prior to Spring Open House. Now is the time to start thinking about your science experiment idea. RSVPs are due Friday, April 22nd. Go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the Science Fair button located on the right bar to sign-up your scientist.
Need to Know Details:
Students will conduct their own science experiment at home to either display or demonstrate at the Science Fair. Each student’s display will be set-up on a card table. There will be no judging. Each student will receive a participation award. Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students. Each participating student will be required to follow the five steps of the Scientific Method and complete and bring the Scientific Method worksheet with their experiment. Participation is optional.

Blythe Park Student Council is having a Spring Clean Up Rummage Sale on Wednesday, April 13th. They are in need of your gently used toys, games, stuffed animals and dress-up clothes. Please send all your rummage sale donations to school by Tuesday, April 12th.
- All Blythe Park Students will be able to shop at the rummage during lunch recess
- Kindergarten may shop with an adult helper anytime between 11:30am-12:00pm
- Students going home for lunch may shop from 12:15pm-12:30pm
- All items will cost $1.00 (There will be no limit on how many items a student by buy or spend)
- Students may bring cash only to school on Wednesday, April 13th
All proceeds will benefit the whole school field trip to the Brookfield Zoo in June.

Illinois largest waterpark, Raging Waves Waterpark, located in Yorkville is offering a fitness program for kids.
Children are invited to Plunge into Fitness this spring as Raging Waves Waterpark joins the battle against childhood obesity. The fitness initiative runs now through April 11th, and each child completing the program requirements during this time period will receive a free Raging Waves full day admission pass.
The Plunge into fitness program requires a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise each day, which totals 25 hours for the seven week period. Any activity that increases heart rate qualifies including: walking, running, biking, playing team sports, skateboarding, swimming, jumping rope and hopscotch. The fitness log that needs to be completed is attached. Once complete, a parent will sign it and the child will turn it into the school office by April 11th.
