Tomorrow Tuesday, May 31st, Blythe Park will hold a flag ceremony in honor of Memorial Day. Students, parents, and community members will meet in front of the school to honor our nation’s symbol and remember those who fought and sacrificed for our country.
The Blythe Park Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will help conduct the ceremony. If you have a scout, please have them dress in their uniforms and report the flag pole by 7:50am. *NOTE: Scouts must wear their uniforms to participate.
We will also have a special bag pipe performance. Please join us at 8:10am at the flag pole for this beautiful program.

Again this year Blythe Park will hold a Rain Gutter Regatta. The Regatta will be raced as a station at this year’s Field Day. The Regatta is a double elimination race. Awards will be presented to the winner from each classroom and ultimately the Gutter Cup Trophy will be awarded to the overall Blythe Park Grand Champion. All boats will need to be checked in on Wednesday, June 1st.
Please check out the attached sheet for all the details on how to help your student build their regatta.

The last big PTA event, FIELD DAY, is this Thursday, June 2nd. This year’s Field Day theme is “The Lazy Days of Summer”. On Friday, an e-mail was sent with the list teams for this year’s field day. Please make sure that your child wears the t-shirt color that represents their team. The list has also been posted on the windows of the school by the K-2 doors.
The planning crew for Field Day is looking to borrow a volleyball net and 10-15 beach towels to use in two of the field day games. If you have either and could lend them to us for the day, please contact Lisa Gaynor or Kathie Ford.
If you would like to come enjoy the morning with the kids and volunteer to help, we are still are looking for a couple more people to help out. Click on this button and check out what is still available.

We have added a Hot Lunch on Friday, June 3rd! So, treat your kid(s) to the last hot lunch for the year and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!
The June Hot Lunch is Friday, June 3rd. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. Please register your child(ren) by clicking on the Cheddar-Up button below:

You can pay for the Hot Lunch Fundraiser on-line. If you would not like to use the on-line payment option, please send cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) to the school office with your family name and “Hot Lunch” written on the envelope.
PLEASE NOTE – all children must be registered by clicking on the Cheddar Up button above no matter what your payment method is going to be (cash, check or credit).
This month’s reservation deadline is Wednesday, June 1st. This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.

On behalf of Blythe Park PTA and staff, we want to thank all of the parents who came in to read to our kids throughout the year. The library is closed for checkouts and all books should be turned in as soon as possible. There is one more task at hand and that’s reading the shelves (checking to be sure books are shelved correctly). We will be doing this Wednesday, June 1st from 8:30-2:45pm; please feel free to stop in anytime for as little or as long as you are able to. If we do not finish, we will finish Friday, June 3rd. Light refreshments will be provided and small children are welcome to sit and read while you are volunteering. Please feel free to contact Julie Laube with any questions.

Last week in your child’s back pack, you received your 2016-2017 PTA Registration packet. Please complete and return your membership packet by Monday, June 6th.
For the 2016-2017 school year the PTA Membership/School Directory package will cost $10.00. The membership letter and Directory Form are below. The information you provide will be used for PTA communication in the following areas:
-To prepare the 2016-2017 Blythe Park school directory.
-For distribution of the PTA weekly e-mail newsletter, ” Blythe Park Happenings.”
Your e-mail address will remain CONFIDENTIAL to Blythe Park PTA. Your e-mail address will NOT be shared with others. It will ONLY be printed in the school directory if you denote by checking the box.
Once your registration form is completed, don’t forget to fill out the volunteer form. The forms are attached below.

Full week of Cardio Kids this week! See you on Wednesday and Friday.
Please have your runners/walkers dressed appropriately for the activity and the weather and be ready to go at 7:45am. The students will join Ms. Gorman and Mr. Bartelt in a run or walk around the Blythe Park Campus. Four laps around the school equals one mile.
The Cardio Kids Final Race is will be run this Friday May 27 at 10:00 AM.
