This year’s Talent Show will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 7pm with a mandatory dress rehearsal on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3:00pm-5:00pm.
The requirements for participating in the show are as follows:
Participants will be asked to present their act to the Talent Show Committee the week of February 13th during their lunchtime. Participants will be notified of their presentation date the week prior to the Talent Show.
Each talent show participant MUST register using the following form – Talent Show Permission Slip 2017

If you’ll be eating out this week, please consider dining at Culver’s in Lyons on Wednesday, January 25th from 4:30-7:30pm to help support Hauser’s Cougar Buddies Club. Ten percent of your purchase will go towards supporting the club.
The Cougar Buddies Club serves to connect students with disabilities and their peers through friendships and a variety of activities.
Volunteer spots are now available for January through May to help Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade students during their library time.
Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students. Volunteers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade will help students find books for check out and then have the opportunity to read to the students. Please click on the button below to sign-up:
Blythe Park PTA’s annual Snowball Dance will be held on Friday, February 10th from 6:30-8:00pm. It will be a winter wonderland of fun!
We are are looking for volunteers to help with setup, serve treats, supervise the dance floor, clean up and donate treats. Please click on the Signup button below if you would like to help.
Log your recreational reading hours and participate in the Six Flags “Read to Succeed” Program to receive one free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags Theme Park this summer.
Every Blythe Park student who completes six hours of recreational reading and submits a signed reading log by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10th will receive one free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags Theme Park this summer.
STUDENTS: Read for fun for a total of 6 hours, log your time and have your parent/guardian sign the reading log.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the reading log listed below and help track your child’s reading. Then sign the form and send it back to school or email to the School Coordinator, Michelle Ruska at mbulir@aol.com

Girls Yoga will take place Wednesday, January 18th from 3:00-3:45pm in the Blythe Park Gym for girls in Kindergarten-5th Grade. *Class reservation deadline is Tuesday.
Purchase one class or two-class pass at $10 per class. Please register online by clicking the Cheddar Up button. Pay online or send cash/check to the school office with “Girls Yoga” on the envelope and child’s name. (Please make checks payable to Blythe Park PTA.)

Voting to include the Communications Officer position on the 2017-2018 PTA Executive Board slate will take place during this meeting. Following is a description of the Communications Officer responsibilities for the general membership to review.
ARTICLE VII DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Communications Officer
In addition to the duties in the bylaws, the Communications Officer shall:
a. Be responsible for maintaining website, including writing, editing, coding site content and ensuring it is up to date and relevant. Maintain site standards with regard to new development.
b. Produce a weekly newsletter during the school year.
c. Monitor and maintain the PTA’s email account and maintain its contact lists
d. Send reminders and last call emails based in newsletter content.
e. Maintain Google Drive and educate the PTA Board on its use.
f. Create, distribute and manage surveys, forms, sign ups, fliers for PTA events and communications.
g. Manage online payments systems
h. Give a 2 year minimum commitment to this position and train replacement
