Over the course of this year, the PTA Executive Board descriptions in Blythe Park PTA’s Standing Rules were reviewed and updated.

Attached for review by the general membership are the proposed changes to Article VII – Duties of Officers, Sections 1-5 in the Blythe Park PTA Standing Rules. 

The proposed changes will be voted on at the PTA general membership meeting this Tuesday, April 16th at 8:30am.

The PTA has two documents that guide the organization in conducting business – the Bylaws and the Standing Rules.  

The Standing Rules outline the procedures of the association with specific details that are not included in the Bylaws.

Volunteer spots are available this Wednesday to help Kindergarten or 2nd Grade during their library time. 

Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students.

Volunteers for 1st and 2nd grade will help students find books for checkout and then read to the students.

Following is the library schedule for K, 1st, and 2nd grade:

Wednesdays
AM Kindergarten: 8:30 – 8:50am
2nd Grade: 1:50 – 2:20pm
PM Kindergarten: 2:20 – 2:50pm

Thursdays
1st Grade: 12:20 – 12:50pm

Join the Cardio Kids spring session!

Students in Grades K-5 are encouraged to join Mrs. Gorman, Mr. Bartelt and Mrs. Rehor on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a morning walk, jog, or run. 

  • DATES: Tuesday and Thursdays (April 9th-May 17th)
  • TIME: 7:45-8:05am
  • PLACE: Warm-up begins in the gymnasium. Participants will walk/run on Blythe Park walking path.
  • FINAL RUN: Friday, May 17th at 8:30am (before ACES Walk) 

*NOTEAll parents/guardians are welcome to participate but parents/guardians of students in kindergarten and first grade MUST be present to walk or run with their child.

The mission of this club is to meet students at their fitness level and show them how to develop stamina, strength, and speed. Other goals of the club include building friendships and a strong school community.

HELPERS NEEDED – Parent/guardian helpers are needed to handout lap markers or patrol the course to ensure student safety.

Stephanie Roldan from Blissful Owl will instruct Kids Yoga classes on Wednesdays from 3:00 – 3:45 pm in the Blythe Park Gym for boys and girls in Kindergarten – 5th Grade.

The Blythe Park 2018-19 Young Author Books are on display this week from April 15th – April 19th at the Riverside Public Library in the children’s section.

SAVE THE DATE – 
Young Author Celebration on Wednesday, May 8th from 3:30-5:30pm at Hauser Junior High School.

The celebration will feature a visit from the Child’s Play Touring Theater.

The Rain Gutter Regatta is fast approaching! This year, Ms. Gorman would like help from parent/guardian volunteers to guide students in making their boats for the Rain Gutter Regatta. (The regatta will take place during Field Day on June 7th).

Rain Gutter Boat Building Sessions

WHO – Volunteers with a love for building needed!

WHAT – 45-60 minute Boat Building Sessions
Sessions can be 10-15 minutes of suggestions/tips on effective boat building followed by guiding students to design and create their own boats.

WHEN – After School OR during Lunch. Dates to be determined.

Need to Know Details –

  • Participation is open to Kindergarten – 5th Grade.
  • Students will conduct their own science experiments and create their display board at home.
  • Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students.
  • Each student’s display will be setup on a card table in the gym.
  • There will be no judging.
  • Participation is optional.
  • Each student will receive a participation award.

Display Boards Available –
Half-size display boards will be available for purchase in the office from the PTA for $2.

Save the date for Blythe Park’s Spring Open House on Thursday, April 25th.

The evening will start with the Science Fair from 5:30-6:30 pm in the gym followed by visiting your child’s classroom.

Kindergarten-Fifth Grade: Open House Schedule –

  • 5:30 – 6:30 pm – Science Fair (gymnasium)
  • 6:30 – 7:30 pm – Kindergarten – 5th Grade Open House
  • 7:15 pm – Fifth Grade Tug-of-War (amphitheater)

Early Learner: Open House Schedule –
5:45 pm – 6:15 pm – Early Learner Open House and Spring Concert
