Blythe Park PTA’s annual Snowball Dance will be held on Friday, February 5th from 6:00-8:00pm in the gym. It will be a winter wonderland of fun!   We are are looking for volunteers to help with set-up, serve food, supervise the dance floor, clean up and to donate treats.  Please click on the Signup Genius below if you would like to help.

The Blythe Park Spirit Wear sale starts today!  Blythe Park PTA will be selling five items – A Rain Jacket, Long Sleeve Moisture Wicking T-shirt, Hooded Sweatshirt, a Water Bottle and a Blanket.  Check out pictures of each of them in the attached flyer.

Samples of each will be on display right outside the school office.   The sale will run through Wednesday, February 10th.

You may purchase by credit card by clicking on the CheddarUp button below or by cash or check.  With cash or check orders, please complete the attached flyer and return the school office in an envelope with your family name on it.

The Blythe Park PTA extends an invitation to all Blythe Park families to remember someone special in your life and help build our library collection at the same time. How does the program work? You select and purchase a book from the library wish list and create your personalized dedication. Blythe Park PTA will print your dedication in your book and the book will be donated to our school library.

Once purchased, the books should be ready for check out within a few weeks of receipt.  There will be a note sent to the person or persons you dedicate the book to (if not part of Blythe Park Community, please include address to send notice to). You may now purchase books at any time even in the summer and keep Blythe Park’s Library filled with new and exciting books for our kids to read!

Please use the instructions below to access the on-line wish list.

If you want to donate a specific book that is not on the list, please check with Blythe Park Librarian, Patty Prodanich, to make sure the book is not currently in the Library’s collection and/or that we don’t have multiple copies as space is limited.

Please fill out the attached order form for each donation.  Please return your dedication form with the book or books you purchased to the cabinet in the office or give them to Julie Laube.  You may purchase the book on your own but please fill out the form below and deliver the book(s) and form(s) together.

January 19-22 is GEOGRAPHY WEEK at Blythe Park School.

The students will be working in their classrooms on a continent mural and wearing geography related shirts. 4th and 5th grades will also be participating in a Geography Bee.

Each day during GEOGRAPHY WEEK, students should wear a geography related shirt. The class(es) with the highest percentage of geography shirts each day will be getting popcorn!!

Tuesday, January 19-location or landmark shirt
Wednesday, January 20- sport shirt
Thursday, January 21- animal shirt
Friday, January 22- Blythe Park PTA

Blythe Park PTA has partnered with Wei Huang, parent to a Kindergarten student at Blythe Park to offer a twice monthly class for students and families to learn Chinese Culture and Conversation.

Class Description

  • 30 minutes of conversational language over the course of the semester up to 10 sentences will be learned
  • 15 minutes of calligraphy, learning how to write simple Chinese characters
  • 15 minutes cultural discussion with some arts and crafts projects
Class Dates
  • Eight class dates – 1/26, 2/9, 2/23, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, 4/19 and 5/3
  • 6:30-7:30pm
  • Held at Blythe Park School
Cost:
  • $13 per class for students; parents are free
  • Four class minimum is required for participation
  • Full semester enrollment is strongly encouraged; total cost $100.00
  • K-2 must attend with adult; 3-5 may attend alone but parent participation is recommended
  • Class fee will be used to purchase supplies and all remaining funds will go to the Blythe Park PTA

Please meet Ms. Gorman in the Blythe Park Library at 6:15pm on Wednesday, January 20th to discuss school events, curriculum initiatives, and any questions you may have regarding Blythe Park School. The January coffee with focus on the PARCC test.

JANUARY PTA MEETING-7:00pm
The January PTA meeting will be this Wednesday, January 20th at 7:00pm in the lunch room.  The meeting has been switched from a morning meeting and will feature special guest  Merryl Brownlow, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.  She will be joining us to discuss district initiatives in the area of curriculum.  Let’s give her a nice Blythe Park welcome!

January Hot Lunch is this Friday, January 22nd. Make your reservation by Wednesday.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!

The January Hot Lunch is Friday, January 22nd. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink.  The cost per child is $5.00.  Please register your child(ren) by clicking on the Cheddar-Up button below

Similar to last month, you will be able to pay for the Hot Lunch Fundraiser on-line. If you would not like to use the on-line payment option, please send cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) to the school office with your family name and “Hot Lunch” written on the envelope.  You can pay for the remainder of the year or single lunches.

PLEASE NOTE – all children must be registered by clicking on the Cheddar Up button above no matter what your payment method  is going to be (cash, check or credit).  If you have paid for the entire year last month, no reservation is needed for the remainder of the year.

Reservation deadline is Wednesday, January 20th. This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.

So, sign-up and pay for the Hot Lunch fundraiser now!
