Take the Screen-Free Challenge during Earth Week!

Earth Week is this week and the District 96 PTA/PTOs are encouraging their elementary school students and families to go screen-free for the week during their recreational time.

Unplug” by turning off your televisions, computers, video games, iPads/tablets and hand-held devices for all recreational use.

Are you ready for the challenge?
Fill out the pledge card (sent home in backpacks or click on the following link – Screen-Free Pledge Cards), hang it on your refrigerator as a reminder and spend your free time reconnecting with family and friends!

*At the end of the week, a printable Certificate of Achievement will be posted in the Happenings and on the PTA website for parents/guardians to print out and reward their children for a job well done!

Award-winning author, Carrie Goldman, will be speaking on Tuesday, April 18th at Hauser Jr. High, 7:00pm.

Her topic will be “Normal Social Conflict or True Bullying? What is the difference and what can we do?

Free and open to the community.

Girls Yoga will take place this Wednesday from 3:00-3:45pm in the Blythe Park Gym for girls in Kindergarten-5th Grade. *Class reservation deadline is Tuesday. You must register by clicking on the Cheddar Up button below to participate.

*PLEASE NOTE – All children must be registered online by clicking on the Cheddar Up button no matter your payment method (cash, check or credit). Payment can be made online or send cash/check to the school office with “Girls Yoga” on the envelope and child’s name. (Please make checks payable to Blythe Park PTA.)

Cardio Kids on Wednesday and Friday this week.

Cardio Kids will be held this week on Wednesday and Friday at 7:45am for 2nd-5th Grade students. Please have your runners/walkers dressed appropriately for the activity and the weather.

Ms. Gorman, Ms. Rehor and Mr. Bartelt will walk/run with the students around the Blythe Park campus. (Four laps around the school equals one mile!) We hope to see many students and parents walking and running with us this spring!

Mixed Bag paper orders can be picked up this Thursday, April 20th after school in the Auditorium.

Orders can still be placed ONLINE only at www.mixedbagdesigns.com 

Blythe will continue to earn 40% profit for online sales that contain our Fundraiser ID# 39596 for Blythe Park School until June 30th, 2017.

Hot Lunch is next Friday, April 28th. Make online reservations by Wednesday, April 26th.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!

Hot Lunch is next Friday, April 28th. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. To register your child(ren) click on the CheddarUp button below.

You can pay for the Hot Lunch Fundraiser online OR send cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) to the school office with your family name and “Hot Lunch” written on the envelope. You can pay for the remainder of the year or single lunches.

It’s Spring! Time to order plants for your garden from our Plant Sale.

Our annual PTA Plant Sale is here!  If you’ve never had the chance to order, you won’t be disappointed. We purchase the plants from Nelson and Holmberg Nursery in Naperville, and they are beautiful!

Need to Know Details

  • Students will conduct their own science experiment at home OR use the experiment/data they collected during a “Science and a Sandwich” session.
  • The student will create a display board at home for the Science Fair.
  • Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students.
  • Each student’s display will be setup on a card table in the gym.
  • There will be no judging.
  • Participation is optional.
  • Each student will receive a participation award.

Half-size display boards will be available for purchase in the office from the PTA for $2.00.

Many thanks for your continued participation and support for Blythe Park School! Keep clipping Box Tops and sending them to school in a zippered plastic bag or attached to the collection sheet in the following link with your child’s name and classroom on it and return them to the Blythe Park office: Box Tops – Collection Sheet

A few friendly reminders:

  • Please submit only valid/unexpired Box Tops. Unfortunately, the largest number of Box Tops has been expired Box Tops. Only valid/unexpired Box Tops can be submitted for credit.
  • Please be sure to include students name/grade on either the monthly Box Tops sheet, an envelope or baggie.  Box Tops can be turned in to the office at any time.
