Rainbow Run shirts will be coming home TODAY!! Each family’s shirts will be bundled together and sent home with their eldest child at Blythe.
Save the colored band holding the shirts together!! This colored band indicates which group your family will run in.
*NOTE – To preserve the color on your t-shirt after the Run, you must treat it with vinegar BEFORE washing. For a list of full instructions click on the following link – How to Preserve the Color in Your Rainbow Run T-Shirt
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS –
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm –DJ Toby will be entertaining and keeping the fun going!
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Pizza, lemonade, and bottled water will be for sale: $3.00 for 1 slice of pizza and a glass of lemonade, $1.00 for bottled water
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Raffle tickets will be for sale for teacher experiences: Teacher Raffle Items 2017
5:30 pm – 6:15 pm – RAINBOW RUN!!
Start times for groups are as follows-
- BLUE group will start at 5:30 pm
- CORAL group will start at 5:35 pm
- PURPLE group will start at 5:40 pm
Families will run loops around the school, you may stop to be sprayed with liquid colors (food coloring and water) as often as you are comfortable. Once your family decides it has done enough running, please head to the tables between the tennis courts and the playground for packets of dry colors (cornstarch and food coloring) that may be tossed on oneself or each other. Families are given 1 packet per paid registration.
*NOTE: The color washes out of most materials but just in case, wear items you aren’t worried about staining so you can enjoy the event to it’s fullest! Depending on how colorful you get, the color may stain your skin, hair, and clothes until finally coming out after a few washes. If you have lighter colored hair you may want to cover up with a hat!
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Children’s Games will be open.
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Ice Cream Social: Come enjoy ice cream and a variety of toppings.

Parent helpers are needed during Picture Day next Tuesday, September 26th.
Parent helpers assist the photographer in making sure that pictures are taken in an orderly fashion. Helpers also make sure kids look their best by straightening outfits and smoothing little hairdos. Here are some of the things parent helpers can keep an eye on so every photo turns out great:
- Clothing: buttons are buttoned and collars lie flat.
- Accessories: Straighten hair clips and make sure jewelry clasps are behind the neck.
- Hair and face: Check that hair is neat and noses and faces are clean.

The Blythe Park Teachers and Staff have generously donated raffle items for the students as part of the Blythe Park Rainbow Run Fundraiser. All funds raised will help the PTA support ongoing programs such as author visits, assemblies and more.
Students have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets BEFORE and AFTER school this week AND at the Rainbow Run this Friday. The more tickets you buy for each item, the better your chances to win! Students may buy more than one raffle ticket per item and buy tickets for as many items as they like.
WHEN: Monday, Sept. 18th – Friday, Sept. 22nd
*Purchase tickets before and after school and at the Rainbow Run.
COST (cash only): One ticket for $1, Six tickets for $5
*NOTE – Parents of younger students, please indicate which raffle item your student is buying tickets for on an envelope with cash enclosed.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!
On Friday, September 29th, Blythe Park PTA will be holding the first Hot Lunch Fundraiser for the year. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, a treat and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. Similar to last year, you will be able to pay for the entire year or single lunches.
Reservation deadline is Wednesday, September 27th.

Fall Parent Night is this Thursday, September 14th beginning in the auditorium with a presentation by Principal Casimira Gorman. After her presentation, parents will head to their child’s classroom for a presentation by their teacher.

The PTA is looking for additional parent volunteers to help serve during Hot Lunch.
Hot Lunch is a special meal organized by the PTA and served by parent volunteers one Friday a month.
Many parents enjoy this opportunity and serving lunch is an easy way to give something back to the school and to be a part of your child’s school experience. *You do not have to commit to the entire schedule, volunteer for as many or as few lunches as you are available.
